Carl Redin (1892 - 1944)

Born near Stockholm, Sweden, on June 15, 1892, Carl Redin studied painting briefly in Sweden before immigrating to Chicago in 1913. He was in the building industry there until 1916. He then began painting while recovering his health in Albuquerque. His work was known in the Southwest during the 1920s, and by the 1930s he had received national recognition. He taught at the University of New Mexico and summer classes in Lubbock, Texas. By the late 1930s he had moved to California. Redin lived in Palomar and Los Gatos until his death in Los Gatos on June 19, 1944.
